BOB BYARD’S UNSANCTIONED, UNAUTHORIZED, NO LIABILITY, NO COST …
LoneStar Multisports Presents
Training and Racing With An Attitude…. You DON’T Want to Miss This Event !!!!!
THIS IS THE 2010 TRAINING EVENT YOU’VE BEEN WAITING, HOPING, SEARCHING & PRAYING FOR……
SATURDAY, April 10th – “BOB BYARD’S UNSANCTIONED, UNAUTHORIZED, NO LIABILITY, NO COST, NO T-SHIRT, 12th ANNUAL, LONG-COURSE-WORKOUT-FOR-HIS-BENEFIT-MORE-THAN-YOURS” TRAINING EVENT !
I’m setting up a three-part triathlon”ish” workout on April 10th at Boerne Lake for athletes to 1) get in some long distance training and have some company, and 2) have an opportunity to see where you you’re at in your training and 3) what skills you’ll need to address with more, specific focus as you prepare for 2010 raceing.
This is a great to prep for Strider’s LC Du 2 weeks later in San Angelo or the LoneStar 70.3 in Galveston 3 weeks out! It’s also the perfect time to meet athletes with similar interests, hook up with old friends, or learn from new ones — come out and see how you can offer to help others or check out who’s available to help you with training and racing suggestions, recommendations, etc. This is a super opportunity to workout at varying distances while helping others improve and find who has the expertise to draw on, has the same pace as you, the same training and racing concerns, and the answers to your questions. Ask and offer….Be there!
I KNOW the water may be cold; wear a wetsuit and/or swim faster!! I plan to start the swim (.5 or 1 mile) at 9:00 am in Boerne Lake; I’ll try to have boat support, but no promises yet - - you can swim across the lake and back which is about 1 mile or swim to the point off to the right of the boat ramp and back and that’s about 1/2 mile. Next, the bike portion (25 or 50 miles) begins at 10:00 am; I’ll set up a double loop course from the lake towards Comfort - - do one loop (25 miles) or two (50 miles). The run (5 or 10 miles) is last and starts at 2:00 pm; there’s an almost 5-mile dirt and paved route that goes around the left side of the lake - - you can do one or two loops. I’ll have maps available for all the routes at the beginning of each event..There may be an entry fee to the park by the City at the entrance; best to get there “early.”
You can do one, two or all three workouts - - it’s your choice; the boat ramp area at Boerne Lake is the official transition/starting/finishing/point-and-laugh area. You know when each sport starts (9:00, 10:00, and 2:00) so you just choose what you want to do AND how far you want to go: .5 or 1 mile swim, 25 or 50 mile bike, and/or 5 or 10 mile run; you pick. Simple, huh?
I’m doing the whole thing and would enjoy some company during the workout - - if not just someone in the boat ramp area to encourage me during this dumb training event. - - e-mail me at rbyard@satx.rr.com or call 210-415-5958 if you want more details or have questions. This is a no stress, good training, have fun, stupid event. Anyone interested? I know there are other crazies out there that just as #@ (*^&!!+ as me; many of you did part of it with me last year, but none of you were crazy as me and did the whole thing!
It’s on Saturday, April 10th, and starts at 9am, 10am, and 2pm.There aren’t any trophies, but I’ll supply some super-chunky peanut butter and blueberry preserve sandwiches for anyone still there when I finish……… Let’s train smart, stay safe, and have some fun. :)
